The Abruzzenhund is a calm and quiet dog who enjoys having a good time. The Abruzzenhund is very loyal and protective of its family, especially children. This makes it an ideal family pet or service animal for retired people who live alone. This breed does not make a good guard dog, but does need early training to be socialized with strangers. It has a double coat, which requires regular brushing to remove mats and tangles.
